Switchell: The OG Gatorade

This drink should be refrigerated and can be prepared in various ways to suit your taste buds.

There are no colored dyes, no artificial flavoring, no strange chemical additions nd everything can be brought from a local store.

Basic Recipe:

Mason Jars

2″ knub of Ginger, organic if possible and scrubbed lightly

1 lemon, pips removed, juiced

1/3 c. apple cider vinegar, unfiltered (avoid Braggs brand)

1/4 c. honey

2 c. hot water, like bathwater

Finely grate ginger and add to your mason jar, along with the remaining ingredients. Secure lids and give a good shake to dissolve all the honey in the liquid. Loosen lid, allow to ferment on counter for 24-36 hours. Strain afterwards with cheese cloth and store with the lid on in the refrigerator for up to one month.

To prepare, pour half a glassful and top with iced water, seltzer or some club soda.

You can add any manner of berries or fruit that you would prefer.
