I am not a physician, nurse nor any medical personnel, I’m simply a person recommending you take on the task of educating yourself and your family on how to properly use certain plants on the homestead. I highly recommend you get some books that are specifically designed to educate you on how to properly use medicine as certain medications aren’t safe for pregnant women, for children or taken internally. Do not use plants medicinally without training and education.
- Comfrey Powder (do not take internally)
- Yarrow Flowers
- Echinacea
- Aloe Vera Gel (Read ingredients and avoid anything with FD&C dyes)
- Arnica Cream (do not apply to open wounds)
- Activated Charcoal Tablets(choose the product that is label “food grade”)
- Cayenne Powder (can cause stomach issues for certain folks)
- Chamomile Flowers
- Eucalyptus Leaves
- Ginger Drops or Chews
- Peppermint E.O., tea, drops
- Slippery Elm powder or lozenges
- Apple Cider Vinegar (avoid Braggs if possible, Bill Gates recently purchased this company)
- Witch Hazel
- Lavender Buds
- Horehound Drops
- Calendula Cream
- Pine Needle tea, resin
- Plantain leaf Powder
- Elderberry flowers or berries
- Vodka
- Food Grade Glycerin
- Bottles/Lids/Jars
I have a fair number of books on natural medicines and would recommend that you start your own little library before purchasing any herbs as you need to educate yourself on their use.
Why don’t I tell you what to use everything for? Why don’t I tell warnings for every plant? Because if you don’t study the plants yourself, then you won’t know how to train your children or the other members of your family. In addition, I’m not medically trained and will not directly tell someone what ailment needs what concoction. I put a couple little tips on here but there’s just so much for you to learn.
Once you have educated yourself, you can decide if you want to purchase seeds to grow your own or get already grown product and test it out on your family first. I would highly recommend if you live within FL to shop from flseeds.com for basic seeds and you can check out strictlymedicinal.com for specific medicinal seeds. If you want to buy a pound of rose hips or lavender buds, you can use Amazon and look for either StarWest Botanicals or Frontier Co-Op then choose the better priced product.
If you need books, please don’t spend crazy amounts for brand new books off Amazon, check them out for free at the library or get them decently priced off Ebay.
Good luck to you and yours! Be sure to check out the podcast that Chris and I do weekly, grab yourself a shirt to support us at BlossomingThreads.com or text me on facebook to set up a client appointment.
