FSA Eligible: Natural Medicines & Products

While I’m a big believer in having access to medications such as Tylenol and Benedryl, I tend to lean towards using more natural methods first to treat ailments. Unfortunately, most natural and organic treatments aren’t covered by FSA, which means it’s an out of pocket expense. Ideally, you want to have a variety of typical OTC medications, plant based/natural medications and homeopathic treatments.

Both CVS and Walgreens have a dedicated FSA section that allows for shipping to your home, so if you can’t find a product on one website do try the other one. Many of the products below have been used by family members with great success.

  • Ricola Cough Drops
  • Fisherman’s Friend Extra Strength Cough Drops
  • Olbas Inhaler
  • Hylands Products
  • Boiron Honey Chestal Cough Syrup
  • Boiron Arnica Gel
  • Boiron Cough & Cold Products
  • Boiron Calendula Gel
  • Burts Bees Acne Treatment Products
  • Burts Bees Medicated Lip Balm
  • Burts Bees Soothing Throat Pops
  • Zarbees Saline Nasal Mist
  • Xlear Sinus Rinse Packets
  • Xlear Xylitol Nasal Spray
  • Any Brand Organic Cotton Pads or Tampons
  • Badger Sunscreen Spray
  • Badger Sore Muscle Rub
  • Zarbees Chest Rub
  • Zarbees Bottom Balm
  • Genexa Natural Product Line
  • Maty’s All Natural Chest or Vapor Rub
  • Thayers Witch Hazel Tonic

I’m sure there are plenty more natural products out there that are covered by the FSA program but these are the products that I was able to find. Now is the time to get your first aid supplies stocked up as soon as you can due to the shortages in the supply chains.

P.S. I understand this blog post is short, but recently I’ve noticed that “natural” products that were once approved have actually been removed off the list of FSA acceptable items. Get it now while you can.

P.P.S. I am not a medical worker and you need to contact your own personal physician for health recommendations and dosages.
